A Moment to Pause, Reflect and Connect

On 15th May 2026, during Mental Health Awareness Week, we marked our first annual MindKind Day - the day to pause, reflect, and connect.

For many people, mental health struggles don’t always look obvious. They often sit quietly in the background; carried alongside work, relationships, and everyday responsibilities.

Often, they can go unsupported for longer than they should.

Why not show your support as we now progress to next year and MindKind Day on 14th May 2027

Why this matters now

Mental health challenges are not uncommon. In the UK, around 1 in 5 adults are currently living with a mental health problem. At the same time, demand for support continues to grow. NHS services are supporting record numbers, with millions of people in contact with mental health services each year.

But access remains a challenge.

  • Around 1.7 to 1.8 million people are waiting for mental health treatment

  • Many people wait months—and sometimes over a year—for support

  • Some are significantly more likely to face long delays compared to physical health care

Behind these numbers are individuals managing anxiety, low mood, stress, or uncertainty—often without consistent support.

The impact on everyday life

Mental health doesn’t exist separately from the rest of life..

When someone is struggling,
it can affect:

  • Focus and productivity at work

  • Relationships and communication

  • Energy levels and physical health

  • Confidence and decision-making

Over time, this can make everyday life feel heavier and more difficult to manage. In some cases, the consequences are more serious. The UK has seen the highest number of deaths by suicide in recent years, highlighting the importance of early support and intervention.

Why “Pause, Reflect,  Connect”

In a fast-moving world, it’s easy to keep going without checking-in with how we or others maybe really feeling.

MindKind Day can remind us to something different.

  • Pause: even briefly, to enquire what’s going on emotionally

  • Reflect: without judgement on thoughts, feelings, or pressures.

  • Connect: reach out with someone, or even just with yourself, in a more honest way.

These moments might seem small, but they can hugely significant. Talking, sharing, or even acknowledging what you or another is carrying can reduce the sense of isolation that often comes with mental health struggles.
